Contract Jail Release Outcomes
The receiving jail is the physical custodian. Its jail management system should hold admission and departure timestamps, booking number, charges received, release authority, and any transfer destination. Its record is distinct from the Glasscock sheriff’s arrest or transport file. Ask the Glasscock County Sheriff to name the host for the booking before searching another county’s site.
A person can leave the host jail on bond, after a court order, after completing a local term, for TDCJ intake, or for another agency. Only the first group of outcomes necessarily puts the person in the community. When the notation says “transferred,” “released to agency,” or similar words, locate the named custodian and continue the timeline.
| Answer | Next record |
|---|---|
| Community release | Closed booking and release record |
| Another county | Receiving jail roster and booking record |
| TDCJ transfer | TDCJ offender search after intake |
| Federal or ICE transfer | Correct federal locator and case record |
Confirm Contract Jail Release
Begin with the host name, not a guess based on distance. Contracts and available beds can change. The Glasscock County release search supplies the broader person-level path when identity or court disposition is uncertain.
- Give Glasscock County the full name and arrest date, then ask for the actual housing jail.
- Record the host agency, booking number, and admission date.
- Use that jail’s official roster or records contact, if one exists.
- Request the closed booking summary, release timestamp, reason, and transfer destination.
- Verify any transfer in TDCJ, BOP, ICE, or the next county system.
Find Receiving Jail Contact
No single receiving-jail address or telephone is supported because the custodian can vary by booking. First use the sheriff contact below. Once the host is named, use that county’s official government page to verify its public-information officer, physical address, records method, and current hours.

Fax: 432-354-2325

Request existing fields, not a new report. Useful terms are full name, date of birth, arrest date, booking number, housing facility, admission and departure times, release type or authority, transfer destination, and the booking photograph. If another county held the person, send that jail the booking portion while asking Glasscock for its arrest and transport records.
Why Contract Jail Varies
The Texas Commission on Jail Standards reports provide the official context. The July 2026 workbook classifies Glasscock as “no jail.” Housed-elsewhere reporting explains why the physical record may belong to another county, but the periodic aggregate does not name a specific person.
A housed-elsewhere report is periodic. It cannot identify one person’s current location or prove an individual release. The TCJS report source shows the statewide reporting framework.

The report explains the cross-county pattern, while the sheriff and receiving custodian must still answer the person-specific question.
The source page above shows the statewide reporting context. It reinforces that a county of arrest and a county of confinement may differ.
Old Jail Is Not Host
Search results may point to the 1894 courthouse and jail. The Texas Historical Commission identifies it as former use, with jail service ending in 1909. It cannot be the current receiving jail or release desk.
A host must be identified for each booking through the sheriff. This prevents travel to a historic site and keeps the final record request with the agency that actually operated the bed.
Map Contract Jail Handoffs
Custody attribution is the core task. Record the arresting county, housing county, court, and each later agency. A receiving-jail departure can be followed within hours by TDCJ intake or another booking. Matching name, identifiers, dates, and destination prevents a transfer from being mistaken for community release.
VINELink can add an agency-fed event. Court orders explain legal authority. Neither replaces the host jail’s closed booking log for the actual departure.
- Host jail
- The county jail that physically maintains the bed and booking.
- Release
- Departure under a court or administrative authority.
- Transfer
- Movement to another custodian while confinement continues.
- Detainer
- Authority or notice that can hold a person for another agency.
Request Glasscock Release Proof
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs written public-information requests. Ask for an electronic copy and request a cost estimate. Glasscock publishes no special release-record fee schedule, so no fixed amount should be assumed. The agency may redact confidential data or cite an exception while releasing separable public fields.
The maintaining custodian matters more than the arrest label. A narrow request reduces delay and helps distinguish Glasscock’s own transport record from the receiving jail’s release log. Keep the response, request date, and any clarification in the same file as the court disposition.
Note: Confirm the final agency and event before saying a person left custody.
Identify the Housing Jail
Do not select a receiving jail because it is nearby or appeared in an old report. Ask Glasscock County for the agency name attached to the particular booking. Useful identifiers include the full name, date of birth, arrest date, Glasscock case number, and transport date. The sheriff’s answer should name the jail that accepted custody, not merely a county that sometimes receives detainees.
Next, verify the host through its official government contact. Ask whether its booking number is the same as the number supplied by Glasscock. Some agencies assign a new local number at intake. Record both and note which system uses each one. If the person moved again, obtain the second receiving agency and repeat the process. A dated chain is more reliable than a single roster screen.
TCJS housed-elsewhere data offers context only. It is aggregate and periodic. It can explain why a Glasscock detainee appears outside the county, but it cannot identify the person, current bed, departure reason, or community-release time. The sheriff and physical custodian remain the case-specific sources.
Request Host Jail Records
Address the physical booking request to the receiving jail’s designated public-information channel. Glasscock County does not publish a permanent host in the research, so confirm the current address, e-mail, portal, and records officer on that county’s official site. Avoid sending private identity data through an unverified directory or commercial form.
Request the closed booking summary, intake date and time, departure date and time, release or transfer code, legal authority, destination, and the photograph tied to the booking number. Ask whether the displayed event time is when staff entered the change or when the person physically departed. Those times can differ. If a code is abbreviated, request the agency’s plain-language meaning rather than guessing.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 permits written requests for existing public records, subject to confidentiality and other exceptions. Ask for an electronic copy and an estimate under the state cost rules. No Glasscock-specific release-record fee was published. A custodian may seek clarification, redact protected fields, or ask the Attorney General about withholding. It does not have to create a special release report when no such report exists.
Reconcile Contract Jail Dates
A host record often contains several dates: the Glasscock arrest, transport, receiving-jail admission, court authorization, system posting, and physical departure. Keep each label. If the booking crosses midnight or spans a transfer, a one-day summary can hide the order of events. Ask the custodian which clock and event definition its log uses.
Match the host booking to the Glasscock file with more than a name. Date of birth, booking number, case number, charge court, and admission source help distinguish people with similar names. A booking image can aid identification, but it reflects one booking at one moment. It does not establish conviction, present custody, or the final destination.
| Host entry | Meaning to verify |
|---|---|
| Bonded | Departure under the bond authority shown in the case |
| Time served | Sentence credit and completion as calculated by the custodian |
| Transferred | Continued custody with the named receiving agency |
| Released to agency | Handoff, not presumed community release |
When a destination is TDCJ, wait for the state intake record and match the identifiers. For BOP or ICE, use the correct federal system. When the event is community release, compare the jail time with the signed court order.
